Marek is an independent film editor and a member of the Slovak Association of Film Editors (ASFS) and the Slovak Documentary Film Association (ASDF). Within the ASFS, he received both the Student Award and the Main Award for Best Editing (2019–2021).
He has worked as editor of feature-length and short films, many of which have been screened at major international festivals, including Sheffield DocFest, DOK.fest München, Beldocs IDFF, Astra Film Festival, Museum of the Moving Image (New York), Ji.hlava IDFF, Art Film Fest, Febiofest Slovakia, International Film Festival Cinematik, One World Film Festival, and the Uppsala Short Film Festival.
In addition to film work, he also edits commercials, several of which have received awards such as the Golden Nail (Zlatý klinec), Effie Awards Europe, Epica Awards, ADC*E, Digital Pie, and Czech ADC Creative Awards, among others.
He is also active in editing trailers and teasers and is engaged in educational activities. He has served as a selector at the dok.incubator workshop for feature documentary development and teaches in LEKTVAR, a series of online workshops introducing film, culture, and art to young audiences.
